Main Characters

I'm Dorothy. I used to be a music teacher, but I now stay home with my two three kids. I have a knack for dishwasher Tetris. I like to pretend that I'm smart, but I really just remember bizarre facts, and they're all slowly being replaced by keeping track of where various toys are hiding.

Me, partway up Croagh Patrick. You can't tell, but Rosie's in this picture, too.

Nate is a music teacher. He is constantly tweaking and reexamining his teaching methods, which makes him more reflective than probably 95% of teachers. This is probably why he's kicking butt and taking names in grad school even while working full-time and still making time for me, the kids, the dog, and chores.

Nate on our honeymoon to Puerto Rico.
Pretend Nate doesn't look stoned.

Rosie is 3 years old. She is a stickler for the rules and will tattle on you if you break them. She loves stories and will recite them and "read" them out loud to herself. She is a jigsaw puzzle master. She sings along with the instrumental parts of songs and loves Fantasia 2000, especially the Firebird and "the song with the whales" (Pines of Rome).

Freddy is 2 years old. He is a handful and a half. He is generally the instigator, even though he's the younger, and is stronger willed than anyone I know. He loves stealing his sister's uneaten food, throwing things, figuring out how to get into things, climbing, roughhousing, and being tossed around like a 30-lb rag doll. If he sits still long enough, he likes The Gruffalo, Fantasia 2000, and Hercules.

John is 3 months old. He is just starting to get a personality, and it's awesome to watch. He prefers sleeping on me (and only on me), spitting up (almost exclusively on me), breakfast in bed, and infrequent bathing. He is greatly loved by his siblings, which may or may not be shown in ways that he understands.

Freya is 6 years old. We adopted her right when I found out I was pregnant with Rosie. She's come a long way since we first got her, not the least of which with trying to herd people. This makes more sense when you realize she's a dog.
Freya

We are Catholic and we love our parish for how hard the priests hit. We like to eat together as a family whenever possible, mostly because I only cook one meal and it's only warm for a certain amount of time. We live in a cozy little townhouse just outside the beltway in Northern Virginia, and though we don't have a lot of money or space. we do have a lot of fun and love (awww...gag).

And pretty much no family pictures.

So here's to us!
